Fire Emblem World: Daily Characters & Weekly Songs Round 5

We hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday, Easter or otherwise! Anyway, it’s that time again, where we outline the upcoming schedule for the rotating characters and songs on the Japanese Fire Emblem World website.

Last month, we covered the schedule from 18th March to 21st April 2019. Up to this point, every released mainline game has been featured except for New Mystery of the Emblem. Which means two things: New Mystery and the beginning of repeats.

22nd – 28th April: New Mystery of the Emblem

Featured song: Young Light

To nobody’s surprise, New Mystery is the next game to bask in the spotlight. The characters are a predictable bunch since there are only a dozen or so official artworks for the game. This time, Marth is missing in action and his “shadow” leads the roster instead.

Funnily, Sirius’s image file is labelled as “Camus”, even though there’s no real reason for it. Say, unlike Nagi, who is internally known as “Naga” in the games. Read more

“Fire Emblem World”: Daily Characters & Weekly Songs Round 4

It’s time for another slightly obscure Sunday update! As usual, we’ll be looking at the upcoming schedule for the rotating characters and songs on the Japanese Fire Emblem World website.

For those not in the know, the website–which serves as a Fire Emblem hub–was overhauled near the end of 2018. The new version features a different character on the front page every day, plus a different song every week.

Last month, we covered the schedule from 25th February to 17th March 2019. Which means it’s almost out of date. But have no fear, because we can check the page source use our crystal ball to see the future!

18th – 24th March: Fates

Featured song: A Dark Fall (Fire)

A fairly predictable line up: male Corrin with Azura, his older brothers and sisters, plus Felicia. Presumably we’ll get female Corrin and her younger siblings and Jakob later. By the way, Camilla’s file name is typo’d. Read more

Japan: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light Coming to Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo has recently announced the upcoming NES/Famicom games to be available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. While the West get Kid Icarus and Star Tropics. Japan gets Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, and the Konami arcade game, Yie Ar Kung-Fu.

Nintendo Switch owners with Japanese accounts should be able to access the game if they wish to try it out. Of course, a subscription to Nintendo’s Online Service is required (although, if it’s your first time, you can also apply for a 7-day trial). Switch games are not region locked.

Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light is the very first Fire Emblem game starring Marth, as he attempts to reclaim kingdom, honor, his heirloom–the Falchion–and rescue his sister.

It laid the foundation of many common themes, archetypes and traditions still present in the series to this very day. While rough and kind of clunky by today’s standards it still holds a significant place in the franchise’s history.

This will be the fourth time the game has been re-released, Japan received the game on October 20th 2009 for the Wii Virtual Console, August 1st 2012 on the 3DS and finally the Wii U in June 4th 2014.

It will be available on the Famicom service from March 13th 2019.
