Japan: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light Coming to Nintendo Switch Online

Nintendo has recently announced the upcoming NES/Famicom games to be available for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. While the West get Kid Icarus and Star Tropics. Japan gets Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light, and the Konami arcade game, Yie Ar Kung-Fu.

Nintendo Switch owners with Japanese accounts should be able to access the game if they wish to try it out. Of course, a subscription to Nintendo’s Online Service is required (although, if it’s your first time, you can also apply for a 7-day trial). Switch games are not region locked.

Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light is the very first Fire Emblem game starring Marth, as he attempts to reclaim kingdom, honor, his heirloom–the Falchion–and rescue his sister.

It laid the foundation of many common themes, archetypes and traditions still present in the series to this very day. While rough and kind of clunky by today’s standards it still holds a significant place in the franchise’s history.

This will be the fourth time the game has been re-released, Japan received the game on October 20th 2009 for the Wii Virtual Console, August 1st 2012 on the 3DS and finally the Wii U in June 4th 2014.

It will be available on the Famicom service from March 13th 2019.

Beyond that, there can be challenged not one, but two Legendary Hero maps. There is a new Legendary Hero map for Marth, Hero-King, and another for Legendary Hero Robin: Fell Vessel. Both are specifically designed specifically to challenge the best Summoners, and reward them with orbs upon completion.

What’s new this time around is the new Abyssal difficulty, unlocked after completing the Infernal difficulty version of the map. Abyssal, when completed, will reward Summoners with Golden versions of some popular accessories.

Heroes: The Next Legendary Hero is a Hero-King

That’s right, Summoners. The upcoming Legendary Hero has been revealed, and it is none other than the posterchild of Fire Emblem himself, the Hero-King Marth.

Marth’s Legendary Hero summoning banner will as always, bring a batch of 5* accessible Heroes with no others within their color, to hands of the Summoner, at an 8% minimum. It kicks off on August 28 at 12a PT, and runs until September 3 at 12a PT.

Along with Marth, comes:

  • Blue
    • Fjorm
    • Lucina (Brave)
    • Nephenee
  • Colorless
    • Faye
    • Kagero (Spring)
    • Robin (Legendary, Fell Vessel)

Heroes: Bridal Bloom Banner Brings Three New Brides, And News of a New Marth?!

If you’ve been anticipating news on the incoming Bridal Banner, well you didn’t have to wait for long. We’ve just received the Special Heroes (Bridal Bloom) banner video, to give us the juicy details on the incoming wedding cravers.

The Special Heroes (Bridal Bloom) Banner comes in just a few days, bringing us three new brides (with some fancy never-before-seen skills), a series of Paralogue maps which will all feature some goodies and quests with which to reap rewards from, and news of one other special surprise unit Summoners have been waiting for…

That’s right! Marth: Altean Groom finally gets his day, as an Axe-wielding Cavalry unit, available as a reward through the next Tempest Trials+ event, slated to begin on May 25. If you aren’t sure where the inspiration for this variant of Marth comes from, look no further than the DLC for Koei-Tecmo’s Fire Emblem Warriors, which featured Marth in his slick new suit for players to enjoy.

Special Heroes (Bridal Bloom) kicks off on May 21, and will remain active for one month, until June 20, so Summoners, you’ve got plenty of time to save up those orbs and try to get a bride of your own, if you so desire.
