Heroes: Mythic Arval Coming Soon!

After two back-to-back Legendary Heroes, Summoners are probably ready for a new Mythic Hero. Behold Arval, from FE Warriors Three Hopes!

Note: You can check out the Japanese version of this trailer here.

Following the arrival of Heroes from Three Hopes back in September, Arval’s inclusion was practically a given, considering they’re positioned as Sothis’s counterpart.

Arval’s Mythic Hero banner will be live from 31st October 2022, until the daily rollover on 14th November 2022 (UTC).

Also appearing are the following:

  • Red: Líf, Mirabilis and Plumeria
  • Blue: Legendary Chrom, Sain and Valentian Est
  • Green: Ótr, Eitri and Letizia
  • Colorless: Elimine and Askr

Please continue for a breakdown of Arval’s abilities!

Fire Emblem Engage: Chloé Tidbits via Twitter

On Friday, the official Fire Emblem Twitter shared another new Fire Emblem Engage character profile.

Meet Chloé, a Firenese pegasus knight.

Her profile:

Chloé (VA: Saori Hayami) is a palace knight from the Kingdom of Firene. She’s easy-going and adores her liege, Princess Céline. Loves fairy tales and pretty scenery and is always seeking a picturesque combination of the two.

A while back, I suspected that Louis and Chloé might be Céline’s retainers. Louis’s status is unconfirmed (although doubtful), but it’s nice that I guessed Chloé correctly. For what it’s worth, Louis is a palace knight like Chloé, so technically he probably serves under Alfred and/or Chloé.

Next, a battle scene:

This battle seems to occur in Firene, the verdant kingdom, in a map where you need to defend some NPCs. Which is the same map seen in Alfred’s showcase.

Left is a screenshot from Chloé’s showcase; right is a screenshot from Alfred’s showcase. The units on the map are the same, I believe: Chloé, Etie, Alear (Engaged with Marth), Alfred, Framme (along the bottom), I think Cramme (Engaged with Sigurd) and Céline (Engaged with Celica). Chloé and Alfred are both Level 7.

Fire Emblem Engage: Weapon Triangle & Break Info via Twitter

This week, we have something slightly different in terms of Fire Emblem Engage info. Rather than a new character profile, the official Fire Emblem Twitter has shared some details regarding the weapon triangle.

Exhibit 1:

The previous mainline entry, Three Houses, didn’t feature a weapon triangle, although there were “Breaker” abilities that were similar. Like other games, Sword beats Axe, Axe beats Lance and Lance beats Sword. In addition, Body Arts (basically Brawling) beats Bows, Tomes and Daggers.

In hindsight, this isn’t a massive surprise because Body Arts had a golden/brown icon on the map (although I didn’t really notice) and during Framme’s showcase, Body Arts had a weapon triangle advantage against Bow, which had a silver/colorless icon on the map. Likewise, Tomes and Daggers (seen in Céline’s showcase) had the same colour icon.

What’s a bit surprising is that Bows, Tomes and Daggers don’t have a weapon triangle advantage against anything. This might be because they’re all ranged weapons (Daggers has yet to be confirmed, but if they function like in Fates and Heroes, they should be). Also, Bows are effective against fliers and Tomes can target the Resistance stat. Maybe Daggers can lower stats?

Exhibit 2:

When a character uses a weapon with a weapon triangle advantage and the attack lands, this triggers “Break” on the enemy. An enemy inflicted with Break cannot counterattack until after the next combat.

We’ve seen Break occur numerous times during gameplay, but they cleverly ended the footage right before we learned what Break actually did. However, during every instance of Break, the character had a weapon triangle advantage. Also, during the animation, the enemy’s weapon appeared to fly out of their hand.

The part about the enemy being unable to counterattack until the end of the next combat is intriguing. I suspected the enemy couldn’t counterattack during the current combat (where the Break happened). However if it extends to the next combat, it could make Break really strong, enabling you to use a second character to wallop the defenceless foe.

Update 2: Gameplay footage confirms that Break persists until the end of the next combat.

Actually, if enemies can also trigger Break, that would balance things out.

It’s also worth pointing out that Nintendo of America’s screenshot shows the battle UI, which has something interesting. The enemy is listed as “Fabrication”, suggesting it’s some kind of artificial foe. Is this related to the story or perhaps some kind of enemies used for training purposes?

Also, some mild spoilers, but this particular screenshot reinforces one of the leaked screenshots from June.

Fire Emblem Engage: Louis Tidbits via Twitter

This week, it seems we may have two Fire Emblem Engage Twitter posts again. (Nevermind, that didn’t happen.)

Today, we have Louis from Firene. Here’s his profile:

Louis (VA: Haruki Ishiya) is a palace knight from the Kingdom of Firene. He’s a gentle servant wearing massive armour. He always pays attention to how his friends are faring and seems happy whenever he sees them at peace.

As I predicted, Louis is from Firene (the verdant nation that Alfred and Céline come from), although his profile doesn’t mention him being a retainer (eg. of Céline). Still, he seems like a nice chap.

Next, two battle scenes:

The first map appears to be a Firenese castle/fortress during sunset. It’s the same map where Framme and Cramme are fighting. The carpets and flags are blue with flower motifs. Meanwhile, the enemies are Elusian soldiers.

Here’s a blurry look at the map before it transitions into the battle. This is near the south end of the map, similar to this screenshot. Allies on the map include Louis, the brown-haired axe guy with Alfred, Alear, Vander, Etie, Chloé and Alfred. I believe Alear and Alfred are in their Engaged forms.

The battle itself simply shows Louis taking no damage twice, emphasizing his role as a defensive tank. Louis has an Iron Lance, while his foe has an Iron Bow.
