Fates DLC Week 2: Goodbye Funds and Weapons Woes

This week, two more Fire Emblem Fates DLC maps are available for purchase (or playing if you purchased the 7-map bundle beforehand).

In Duelist Museum, players can acquire a variety of common to rare weapons and items, which should be handy considering weapons have unlimited uses now and the rarer ones are typically limited in number.

Meanwhile, Treasure of the Ruins allows players a limited number of turns to loot as much Gold as possible from enemies.

Grinding for gold may sound superfluous, but it can be incredibly helpful–I returned to Awakening’s similar The Golden Gaffe more times than I’d like to admit.

(A word of caution for importers: You will need to download yesterday’s 1.1 update to use the game’s Internet functions, including the ability to access the new DLC maps.)

Fates 1.1 Update / Smash Update Adds Chrom Costume

Today, we have two separate Fire Emblem-related updates regarding… well, updates.

Firstly, owners of the Japanese version of Fire Emblem Fates can now download the version 1.1 update for the game when connected to the Internet (see further down for full instructions).

This update fixes a bug that prevents the use of Amiibos, as well as general fixes that “enhance the playing experience”. As with all Nintendo updates, this update is required to use the game’s Internet functions.

Secondly, Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U fans can look forward to a Chrom Mii Fighter (Swordsman) costume, which will be available from 31st July 2015. It’s not Chrom himself, but it’s better than nothing, right?

Fire Emblem 25th Anniversary Concert Report

On 24th and 25th July 2015, Nintendo held a Fire Emblem 25th Anniversary concert event, dubbed “25th Anniversary of Love and Courage: Fire Emblem Festival”, at Tokyo Dome City Hall.

While I didn’t attend the event myself, many fans and members of the press did and, so, I’ve collected their impressions in this (lengthy) post.

Before beginning, I should mention that it’s prohibited to take pictures (or recordings) within the concert itself, so that’s the reason you won’t find any (or many) here.

But anything beforehand is fair game, it seems. Speaking of which, the entrance itself is rather spectacular, featuring life-size replicas of Marth and Chrom’s Falchion and Fire Emblems.

I already made a post with pictures of those, if you’re interested and missed it. Apparently, the replicas were crafted by Hato Ken, a famous weapon designer.

Cipher: Series 2 Details and Series 3 Preview

With all the hype surrounding the 25th Anniversary Concert (expect an impressions post soon), I missed some important details regarding the Fire Emblem Cipher TCG.

First teased in a livestream event before the first series even came out, the second series–focusing on Fire Emblem Fates–is due for release in Japan on 17th September 2015.

Now that September is fast approaching, the official Cipher site has added details about the starter decks and booster packs (plus all the special gifts inside), which I will go over further down the page.

In addition, at an official Cipher gathering, staff showcased the first illustrations from Series 3–focusing on Fates and Path of Radiance.
