Fates: “Pellucid Crystal” Art Book Releasing 25th April 2019 + Message from Yusuke Kozaki

To say it’s taken a while it’s an understatement, but the Fire Emblem Fates art book is finally fated to arrive on 25th April 2019, in Japan. This information was provided by the Nintendo Dream editing team.

The art book’s full title is “Fire Emblem Fates: Visual Guide – Pellucid Crystal”. It’s produced by the team behind the Tellius and Echoes books, and is fully supervised by Intelligent Systems. Currently, it’s available to pre-order on Amazon Japan.

The book itself contains 320 pages, which cover various character artwork, taken from in-game visuals (including the Private Quarters) and concept designs. In addition, there will be movie scenes, outlines of the storyline of all three paths, plus details regarding the world and story.

When this news was announced, the game’s artist–Yusuke Kozaki–cautioned fans that the art book will not contain official artwork for every character. So those wishing to buy the book to see all the official artwork should bear this in mind.

But I should mention, not every character has an individual illustration. I know this is probably frustrating for those wishing to buy the book and expecting otherwise. To make up for that, I drew a spectacular piece for the book’s cover.

Cipher S11 Weekly Recap: Daily Reveals, Website Update, & More Livestream Guests!

We’re just a couple short weeks away from the Series 11 release of Fire Emblem Cipher! The @fecipher twitter account has been busy this week revealing a number of cards from the set. Senri Kita drew this gorgeous joined-art of Marth and Chrom for the Fire Emblem Warriors block. Their outfits are based on their Warriors promotions in-game.

For The Sacred Stones, both Frelian royal siblings also had cards revealed this week. Innes has both an N and an R card, and wields Nidhogg in his promoted card. His sister Tana snags a gorgeous SR promoted card. Her lance looks very much like Vidofnir as well, though the card text neither confirms or denies it.

The final reveal of the week goes to Clive from Fire Emblem Echoes! He appears here as a Skogul, the third Overclass to get representation in S11 so far. This is the R+ variant of the card which includes special gold foiling and a signature from his voice actor, Hiroshi Kamiya.

Heroes: Kozaki Yusuke Challenge – New Special Maps & Quests

A new challenge awaits you in Fire Emblem Heroes! Starting today, a new series of special maps is available for all players. What makes these maps particularly interesting is that the enemies you fight against are based on the heroes owned by Fire Emblem illustrator Kozaki Yusuke!

There are a total of five different maps, each with two difficulty modes. Each map features four heroes based on Kozaki’s own player data. The data was taken before Skill Inheritance was implemented, and only base levels are used. Hard Mode enemies received a flat boost to their stats to increase the difficulty.

Kozaki Yusuke is the official artist for both Awakening and Fates. He also drew the in-game art for all of the Heroes original characters. He has previously tweeted pulls and builds of various Heroes characters, so the fact that he has been playing the game has been known for some time.

Completing each map on each difficulty level earns you an Orb a piece, for a total of ten Orbs! A new series of Quests also awards two additional Orbs along with some Shards and Crystals.

The deadline for the new maps and quests is 8 June at 7:59am UTC.

Fire Emblem Fates Manga Suspended

This should come as no surprise to anyone, but the Fire Emblem Fates manga subtly announced back in July 2015 has been subtly put on hold or outright cancelled.

kozaki-tweet-28-Dec

Few details were known about the manga, except that Yusuke Kozaki and Shin Kibayashi–the artist and story director for Fates respectively–would be teaming up and that the manga would be debuting before the end of 2015.

However after that window passed and there was no more news about the manga, it became clear that it probably wasn’t going to happen. Perhaps the announcement was merely a figment of our imagination? Not quite.

In a recent tweet, Mr. Kozaki confessed that the plans for the manga are currently on hold, for reasons undisclosed.

Regarding the Fire Emblem manga, due to various circumstances, right now the plans have essentially been suspended. Everyone who was looking forward to it, we are deeply sorry. Personally speaking, I would like to draw FE as a manga one way or another.

While it’s not 100% clear from the wording whether the manga is still happening or not, from the way Mr. Kozaki ends the tweet, it does sound like it’s not going to happen any time soon…
