Vestaria Saga: Interview with DANGEN Entertainment

During the middle of August, the official English version of Vestaria Saga was announced, together with a playable demo.

Around this time, we reached out to DANGEN Entertainment–the company responsible for localising the game–to see if they could answer some burning questions we had.

For those who haven’t been keeping up–and possibly quite confused–Vestaria Saga is an indie game that’s believed to be created by one of the founders of the Fire Emblem series. But that’s all we can say on the matter, since he wishes to distance himself away from any potential drama.

Although we–Serenes Forest–are primarily a Fire Emblem fan site, we also like to cover all the spin-off games and related games, which Vestaria falls under.

With that out of the way, onto the interview itself!

Fire Emblem Warriors: Final Interview with Nintendo Dream

We have ourselves yet another Nintendo Dream article to decode!

In this “final interview” from the June issue of Nintendo Dream released on April 21st 2018, we have a behind the scenes look following the release of the third and final DLC pack.

Translation by VincentASM. Special thanks to Christian Ponte/@TheTanooki for providing the images!

Warning: There are spoilers for the endgame!

Left: Hiroya Usuda — Team NINJA brand senior leader. Director for Hyrule Warriors 3DS and Fire Emblem Warriors.
Right: Yosuke Hayshi — Koei Tecmo’s Director and Senior Managing Executive Officer, Team NINJA brand leader. Involved with Hyrule Warriors 3DS and Fire Emblem Warriors.

Nintendo Dream: What are your thoughts now that you’ve finished development of the DLC?

Usuda: “It’s over; that was long” is what I’m honestly thinking. At the very beginning, we were working with the 3DS version of Hyrule Warriors as a base, and we had Link running around in this very early, rough version. Roughly half a year has passed since the game’s launch and we’ve created many DLC characters for everyone to use. We received opinions via Twitter and enjoyed reading fans’ reactions after the release. In addition, we progressed onto the DLC, where we enjoyed communicating with fans, while thinking of what to do next.

Hayashi: I’m very grateful for all the fans who praised the game and affirmed our expectations. Also, now that the DLC is over, I feel like there’s finally a great variety of weapons.

Heroes: Version 1.7 Update, CYL Gauntlet Results, QHB Rewards, & Dev Interview Info!

Once again, it’s another big day for Fire Emblem Heroes! The Version 1.7 Update is now available for download. If the game does not prompt you to download the update immediately, you can download it manually from your device’s app program.

Version 1.7 brings some fun updates to the game, including a new feature called Ally Support! Inspired by the support feature within many Fire Emblem games, Ally Support allows two units to gain stat boosts by being near each other in battle. There is also a Summoner Support option for your favourite heroes.

You can read further details within the Notification Screen. Alternatively, jump right in and start giving your heroes supports within the Advanced Growth section of the Allies menu.

Other features of the new update include a search function for Inherit Skill and defensive wins granted for Arena Assault matches. In celebration of the new update, Heroes has begun a new Log-In Bonus! Players can earn an additional 2 Orbs a day for up to 10 days starting tomorrow, 7 September.

The Choose Your Legends Voting Gauntlet has also just finished! Although Camilla managed a surprise upset in her match against Lyn, Ike managed to pull through and secure victory in the final round. Congratulations to all Ike supporters!

The Quick Hero Battle event is still going on for another day. However, players may be interested in hearing that we’ve already met the final point goal. As of the time of this post, we’ve reached an astounding 1,598,304,400 Points! Thank you to everyone for diligently playing the game. We should receive the 10 Orbs and 5,000 Feathers sometime soon.

Finally, some editors with Polygon recently held an interview with two of the Fire Emblem heroes game developers, Kouhei Maeda and Shingo Matsushita. Although the interview contained nothing particularly earth shattering, there are a few interesting tidbits of information. Check them out below! You can also read the full interview here.

Echoes: Nintendo Dream Interview from May 2017

Back in May, Nintendo Dream conducted a post-launch interview with the developers of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. Thanks to Kirokan, this interview has now been translated into English.

In the interview, the developers reflect on the player feedback received after launch and discuss how certain design choices were made, such as the inclusion of new characters and Alm becoming left-handed.

We were incredibly anxious due to development limitations, as well as wondering whether the newer fans of the series would be accepting of this game. So after seeing the great response the game got, well, it was a relief!

–Toshiyuki Kusakihara

They even briefly mention Fire Emblem Switch and touch on some Fire Emblem Heroes-related trivia.

With the experience and “know-how” gained from Awakening and Fates, we attempted to make [the people] in both this game and the next one on Switch closer to realistic proportions and movements.

–Toshiyuki Kusakihara

Whereas really, the FEH side just wanted another archer unit [with Faye].
