Fire Emblem: Battle of Revolution Surprise Reveal!

Out of absolutely nowhere, Nintendo has revealed a stunning new Fire Emblem game for the Nintendo 3DS and Switch subtitled “Battle of Revolution”.

An absolute smorgasbord of information can be found on the game’s newly launched official site. In fact, there’s so much to digest that we’ll leave you with the basic details.

Battle of Revolution boasts amazing retro graphics inspired by the NES era games and a unique setting never seen before in Fire Emblem, based on the late Edo period of Japan.

The game launches on 20th April 2017 in Japan, which coincides with the series’s 27th anniversary. A limited edition pack will be available, bundled with a pair of authentic art scrolls.

Additionally, fans can look forward to free DLC, featuring a new “Running Marth” storyline, to be released at a later date.

Heroes: Spring Festival Now Live

Starting today, the first seasonal Fire Emblem Heroes event–the Spring Festival–is underway. During this event, players can try to summon Easter-themed versions of Chrom, Lucina, Xander and Camilla.

Accompanying these “new” Heroes are a set of 3 Paralogues, offering a total of 9 Orbs if beaten on all difficulties, as well as timed Spring Festival quests (including one which provides a bonus 2 Orbs).

The Easter-themed Heroes and timed quests are set to expire during 14th April 2017 at 6:59 UTC. In particular, the special Heroes will only be available during this event (at least for this current year), so good luck if you’re egg-hunting!

Aside from the festivities, plucky data-miners have discovered a new Voting Gauntlet for April, which you can read about and discuss over here. The March Voting Gauntlet was a lot of silly fun, so here’s hoping the next one will also be a good one!

Echoes: Japanese Introduction Video + Analysis

As we swiftly approach the Japanese 20th April release of Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia, Nintendo has added a new 7 minute “introduction” video explaining the game’s key features.

Without further ado, here’s our summary of the video for the benefit of those who aren’t familiar with Japanese. Plus let’s see what hidden details we can find!

Since the video is aimed at all audiences–which includes newcomers–it begins with the very basics, such as the warring nations Rigel and Zofia, as well as the two protagonists stuck in the middle: Alm and Celica.

Moving on, we reach the battlefield, where we’re told of the various unit classes that appear in Echoes. This is where the magnifying glass first gets some proper action. In the Cavalier demonstration, there are two curious enemies on the field.

Well, if isn’t Berkut, one of the new villains added to the game. At this point in time, judging from his map sprite, he appears to be a Paladin–and a boss no less.
